"Sour As Bro" A Night Of NZ Sours.

Thursday 19th of November

Join 8wired Brewing’s “International Gnome of Beer” Brian Watts, for an NZ sour spectacular.

We will be pouring on the night from 8 wired:

Hippy Berliner Cucumber Edition, Fresh from its well-received debut at this year’s PBE. If you didn’t get to try it there, make sure to head down there isn’t a great deal around.

Wireless IPA, proof that poor old Brett doesn’t turn everything sour. New Batch of the super refreshing 100% Bretannomyces IPA.

A very rare keg of Sour Side Of the Moon 2014. A kind of ‘Flanders Black Ale.’ Brewed in Blenheim by Jason and laid to rest in a Pinot Noir Barrel for 18months it was then shipped over sea and over land to Warkworth. A special beer.

Tall Poppy’s sour cousin Sour Poppy. A kettled soured version of Tall Poppy, brewed for the Red October event around Wellington last month.

Alongside 8 wired we will be pouring beers from Hallertau and Northend.

From Northend a teeny tiny drop of Rivage Brux Reserve.  A saison re-fermented in Sauvignon Blanc Barrels. Racked from the barrel directly for this event.

From Hallertau their brand new seasonal Berliner Weisse. Kettle soured, super trad, German tart ale. The guys have recommended it be served with passionfruit syrup as opposed to woodruff or raspberry, we’ll endeavour to get some to try for the evening.

Should be a lip smacking night, hope to see you here,

Cheers LBQ

BBQ time again at LBQ

LBQ Summer Collabs: MKR, Beer and BBQ Mash Up!

This summer, Little Beer Quarter is hosting three My Kitchen Rules, Beer and BBQ collaborations on Saturdays from 12:30 till the food runs out.  Each team is serving their own original menus inspired by their partner brewery's beer.
This is our second year of celebrating beer, BBQ and hopefully sun.  The twist this year is that we have invited our friends from MKR to join in on the party. One of LBQ's owners, Maura Rigby, appeared on the show and saw it as the perfect opportunity to bring some of the most passionate BBQ chefs to the LBQ grill.
Talking part will be Maura & Steve the Wellington foodies, Aaron and Heather the Polynesian Cooks from Palmerston North (MKR;s  runners up) and Ian and Sandie the Fireman and His Flame from Lower Hutt. LBQ will be donating 10% of the BBQ take to each team's chosen charity.

Who and When:
All three BBQs will be held on a Saturday afternoon, serving from 12:30 till the food runs out:

Saturday 29th November MKR's Polynesian Cooks and runners up from Palmerston North Aaron and Heather are cooking up Pacific food to be enjoyed with Wellington's Panhead Custom Ales.

Saturday 13th December MKR's Fireman and His Flame from Lower Hutt Ian and Sandie are cooking up gourmet BBQ Fare with Tuatara Brewing beers

Saturday 20th December MKR's Wellington Foodies Steve and Maura are serving up a Southern style BBQ with Garage Project brews.

All three events promise to be different and exciting in there own right, on the day we will have a varied and interesting mini tap takeover from each of the participating breweries. Keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook and Twitter for menu updates, and of course CBC for the 'coming soon' tap lists.

Cheers LBQ

Behemoth Brewing will be launching their latest release, 'The Red Tape' Red IPA, here at LBQ this Thursday 11th September from 5pm.

Unique and award winning beers all round! They'd love for you to come and help them celebrate their success!

See you Thursday!

A Night In With Northend

Brewer Kieran Haslett-Moore will be with us on the evening of Thursday 10th of April to introduce his range of Northend Beers. These beers have been available in bit parts around Wellington following their launch at Goldings and over at Long Beach in Waikanae, an area which will soon become their spiritual, then ‘actual’ home when work is completed on a new brew bar set up.

We will have for the evening the Northend Saison, that featured at the recent GW Brewday over in Martinborough, batch 4 of their quenching Hoppy Wheat, a keg of the ‘Kiwi Kolsch’ Pacific Blonde, their super quaffable Amber and a wooden cask of their spectacular ESB. What’s more we will have canapes matched with the beers for all you early birds, all kicks off from 5pm.

For more details on the beers, Kieran’s brewing notes and a bit of Northend history check out their blog http://northendbrewing.wordpress.com/

Hopefully see you that evening,

Cheers LBQ
