Mooning Australia Day - Beers, Beats and BBQ

Written by
Mooning Australia Day Mooning Australia Day

Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?

We have some Aussie beers in keg out back and what better time to get them on than a nice summer's evening during Australia Day*?

We'll have some treats from the likes of Big Shed Brewing Concern, Bentspoke and Temple Brewing pouring on tap. All served by the schooner or middy of course**

For a real culinary match there will be a free sausage sizzle from 4-6pm or until the snag supply hits zero. We'll have all the usual trimmings of bread rolls, sauce and onion

Plus, we'll be streaming Triple J's hottest 100 countdown from 4pm which, for us, is the best way to catch up on what wasn't too dreadful on the radio in 2016. If people are in need of visual stimulation we'll put The Castle on the projector too!

**Tap Beers**

We will have over the course of the day;

Big Shed Brewing Concern (Royal Park, SA)
Beery Ripe Porter 5.7% - A beer brewed to illicit memories of the Cherry Ripe chocolate bar you've had once or twice!

Untappd users are calling it 'Cherry ripe in a beer as advertised' (Steve) & 'Not bad' (Kathleen K)

Bentspoke Brewing Co. (Braddon, ACT)
Tour de Brune 8.5% - A big Belgian Brown ale showcasing a host of new world hops and exhibiting a taste of divine Belgian chocolate. At 8.5% this will be the beer to finish the night on, as such it we be pouring after the Beery Ripe!

Untappd users are calling it 'Not my thing. But yeah wow' (Jonny S) & 'Like a fruit cake in liquid form' (Jules G)

Temple Brewing Co. (Brunswick East, VIC)
Anytime Pale Ale 4.7% - Previously had the title of IPA, but the brewers saw sense and positioned it as a Pale Ale, a tag which does fit this outstanding beer. Tons of sunny Australian hops give this beer a full-on mango twist making it both refreshing and as tasty as fruit salad.

Untappd users are calling it 'Better than the other option' (Andrew G) & 'Bitter in all the right ways' (Morgan H)

**Bottled Beer**
In our fridge we also have longnecks of Coopers Sparkling Ale alongside Temple's RYE HARD Red IPA, for the die hard fans of beer... & Cooper's actually-quite-drinkable 0.05% Light Beer

On Sunday 29th we also have a visit from Murray Kyle the Australian Troubadour, which is a free entry show from 6pm!

*a.k.a Invasion Day - But the beer still tastes good!

** We say 'of course', but you can also have pots, pints and ponies Wikipedia - Australian Beer glass names
